First Aid

I'm just curious, is there anyone out there other than me who can't figure out why they don't teach basic first aid in school? I mean, why would we not try and teach every kid possible the basics and continue the training ALL thru school. I saw a fella go into seizures the other day and 10 people were standing around and not one person knew what to do. I ran over to help and just as I got there another guy grabbed him so he could not bang his head and made sure he did not swallow his tongue while he told another guy to call 911. I'm sure all of those people would have let that guy die had that other guy showed up(not counting myself) not that they were bad people, just all of them were dumbfounded.

I've been thru first aid since I was out of highschool every job I've had demanded it but why aren't we trained as a society from grade 1 all the way up, imagine how many people would be saved because the people around them are able to spot heart attacks, know heatstroke, understand burns or how to stop bleeding or all the other small things you learn in basic first aid.

Another form the other day, that I've worked on a bit.

Melting Snow

The snow's been melting like crazy now, although by this time last year there was no snow on the ground. So much for global warming... hehe.

Ice Cream

I took the boy out to get a treat for making the Honor Roll and being good on the bus, he had his skateboard with him and insisted on wearing the helmet and kneepads everywhere he went. He ended up getting French vanilla with sprinkles, gummy bears and m&m's mixed in. I had banana's and caramel with nuts, not sure on the type of icecream it was one of their creations. Good stuff tho, This was taken at Cold Stone's.

Silent Hill

Almost forgot, I went to see it on sunday, It was good... not great, but good, they coulda cut 30 or 40 minutes from it easy. If you like dark thriller's then you'll dig this one but you won't walk out excited. In short, it starts off slow and sour, has yummy goodness in the middle and leaves a bad taste in your mouth when it's done.

A walk in the woods pt 2

Some of the feathers I found lying around the nest, of course I left them there because it's illegal to pick them up, omg. ;) You can see the nest up the tree in the background.

Here's one of the 2 Eagles from the nest, hopefully one of these days he'll let me get close enough to get a better shot.

This is the other one inside of the nest poking his or her head over the side to see what we were doing. (no worries on us bothering them they are in a high traffic area with jets that fly directly over their heads).

A walk in the woods

Harv and I took a walk to go and visit a nearby eagles nest that we've been watching for about 3 years, I did get some pictures of the eagle and the nest (tho not very good ones) I may post them tonight. As for the settings on the camera during this pic, I set the shutter speed for 1/1000 ev to about +1.0 and made sure the sun was directly behind the closest tree in the picture.

Getting back into posting

Ok, Starting today... I'm going to actually get back into the written part of posting as well as the pics. I've been burnt out pretty hard on the blog and I don't know why but if I don't get back into my routine of trying to get at least one good pic a day I'm never gonna learn how to use this new camera. Nothing special about this pic btw, just clouds and mountains.. Did nothing to it.

New Tank

I just recently(bout a week ago) put together a 55 gallon fish tank, oh boy. All the plants are ones that I grew myself from clippings in a 10 gallon quarantine tank (used for adding new fish) so they still look pretty sparse, they should fill out in about 2 weeks.... gonna be a good one ;)

Another test of picture quality

Zoomed in over 60%.

I have not really gotten down to starting the tutorials on learning how to use this camera yet, so I just ran outside to take a quick shot of some leaves in VERY low light, hand held.

Tomorrow i start with learning about f-stop and shutter speeds.

Msn Messenger

I have finally broke down and gotten a msn messenger account, I think my user name is my email address =/

Camera Picture Quality

This is zoomed in over 60%, (I cropped the original pic before I posted it) no fuzziness or blurring at all.

Slither

Slither

Holy crap I loved this movie, If anyone has ever seen Tremors (another great movie) I put it in the same catagory as that. If you have a weak stomach and don't like "jumpy parts" DO NOT SEE IT. There were guns, space aliens, lots and lot and lots of cussing, and best of all the captain from Firefly/Serenity Nathan Fillion (VERY underrated actor) stars in it.

I have to say, along with Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang this movie is one of the best I have seen in the last 5 years or should I say the most fun to see in a theater.

Favorite quote:
Bill Pardy (Nathan Fillion): [After witnessing a naked zombie combine himself to his leaders body] Well now, that is some fu**** up sh**.

My boy

1st picture on my new camera, set to Auto ;) and manual focus. I used Picasa to crop and warmify this picture. It was actually sunny today and the snow is about half gone, oh boy I think it's actually spring.

New Camera :)

As of yesterday, I'm the proud new daddy of Nikon 8800 coolpix fixed lens camera. I had to beg borrow and steal to get this thing and I want to say thanks to Harvey and Ross (couple of good friends of mine) for helpin me get it. I have a long way to go, I know literally nothing about photography and I'll be doing self taught tutorial's with he help of Harvey (pro photographer friend of mine) and posting the pics that I teach myself with as well as the settings for the pictures. I figure posting each days lessons will kind of burn in what I've learned.
