More rain

More grass and Rain

You might be askin yourself, what the hell is up with all the water droplet pictures. Well, it's been raining for almost 3 weeks straight up here and I'm not takin my camera out in the rain so I have ta wait till it stops ;). The sun popped out for a couple hours today, just enough to get a few shots.

If you hit play and it starts skipping, just hit pause till it loads all the way. Castpost has been slow as hell lately.

The fungus among us

So, we were out hunting mushrooms when we came across the biggest nastiest lump of fungus I have ever seen. This thing was growing on a dead tree and was in about 3 patches the size of basketballs. Naturally, being the super sharp and inquisitive fella I am.... I poked it with a stick. Cool stuff.

If you look close, you can see a little spider standing on top of that shroom (not sure what kind of mushroom) as I moved closer he became more and more defensive. Assuming the attack position instead of retreating. It was pretty neat. This pic reminds me of the Crystal fortress that was guarded by a spiderqueen in the movie Krull.


These pictures actually dropped quite a bit in detail when I shrank them for the blog...

The Sickener (Russula emetica)

The sickener causes the eater to vomit. A merciful fate considering the alternatives some other mushrooms offer.

Moose Bones

We were out hunting mushrooms the other night when we ran across this pile of old moose bones that a bear had killed. There were several other animals killed and eaten in the area but the identity of most could not be determined. The bad thing was that we were in a bears backyard, the good thing was these were all last years kills.....
