Gary the Snail

At the request of Patty (who wanted to see more fishtank stuff and is a great photographer) and ndiginiz (one hell of a cool fella and a great photographer) I'm posting some of my fishtank stuff, this is Gary the Snail (named by my son) from one of my 10 gallon tanks. That's a ghost shrimp riding shotgun and eating algae off of his back. If you have a fresh water aquarium it's probably to your biggest advantage to have snails and shrimp. The snails keep the algae down and the shrimp take care of any small particles that your filters might miss, both are great for taking care of decaying matter if you have live plants (which I have a ton of). I'll try and grab some pics of my fish if I can get them to slow down some ;)

Yeah DJ, thats what I'm on about!

I use to eat snails as a young fella of about 1 year old. Mum use to tell me stories of how I'd crawl into the garden while no-one was looking. When someone finally came there'd be slime all over my chin and around my mouth, broken snail shells littered the dirt where I sat and half eaten snail bodies I'd be chewing like gum. Hope none were a relative/forebear to Gary?

Gary!!! That's the perfect name! Now, where's Patrick? :)

Would've been here sooner, haven't been on my computer in a while.

When I first saw this photo I thought, "Hey, he posted some more fish tank photos, yea!" Didn't even realize you wrote my name in until reading. Ha. I forgot all about asking you about that.

Cool photo of the snail & shrimp! And great info. in case I ever decide to get a tank.

Thanks for posting this & any more will be lovely to see.
