DragonFly at Otter Lake

Stopped again today at the lake before I left work, this guy had just emerged from the water and was sunning his wings getting ready to fly.

I think in clos-up all insects are ugly. They look like something from a horror movie. Tought the black-and-whites are nice.
Btw the Dutch name for dragonfly is nicer then the english one... Libelle

just wanted to say, because your photo is so clear, that the pattern of the scales in a dragonflys' wing is how to exactly identify it. Wonderful photo!!

i think a lot of insects(spiders, ants, creepy crawlies...) are ugly from far off, but get a close up & WOW they are beautiful. but insects such as the dragonfly or butterfly are gorgeous all the time in my opinion.

spectacular images!
